Winslow 0 - 17 Maidenhead
(league fixture) | |
Maids showed little rustiness from the extended mid-season break as they claimed a thoroughly satisfying 17-0 league victory at Winslow. The visitors turned in one of their better all-round team performances and enjoyed territorial advantage for much of the contest thanks to good tactical kicking and much-improved interplay between forwards and backs. Winslow were on the back foot from the start but defended stoutly until Maids finally broke the deadlock when winger Aaron Lambert produced an excellent finish to a well-worked backs move to score in the corner. Fly-half Dave Goodman added a converted try before half-time and scrum-half Tim Callaghan made the game safe with a fine solo effort midway through the second period, showing a fine turn of speed from the base of a ruck to outpace the Winslow defence and dive over in the corner.
