Bletchley 28 - 0 Maidenhead
(league fixture) | |
Maids impressive run of results came to an end with a 28-0 defeat away to runaway league leaders Bletchley 2nds, but this was a valiant display by a 4th team missing eight of their regular players.
Bletchley dominated from the start but were unable to find a way past the visitors' resolute defence until Maids were reduced to 14 men when centre Pete Bluck was sin-binned for not releasing the tackled player. A more harsh yellow card for skipper Peter Hickey followed soon after and Bletchley took advantage to add a second converted try before the break.
Maids continued to battle for all they were worth in the second half but began to tire in the latter stages, allowing Bletchley to seal victory with another two converted tries.
Maids have no fixture this week but hope to be close to full strength as they aim to consolidate third place at home to Gosford All Blacks 2nds on March 5th.
